What we collect, and what we do not.

Who this covers

This statement covers Coastal Media Network and this website, coastalmedianetwork.com.au. It does not cover other websites we link to, or systems we build and operate for clients — those are covered by the agreement with that client.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. Businesses of our size are generally outside the Privacy Act 1988, so this is a commitment we are choosing to make rather than one imposed on us.

What this website collects

The enquiry form is the only place this site collects personal information. When you submit it, we receive exactly the fields shown on the form:

• Your name
• Your organisation
• Your email address
• Your phone number, if you choose to give one
• What you tell us is slowing your business down
• Who uses the process you are describing
• Whether you would rather we email or call

Page views

We count visits, using Umami on our own server rather than a third-party service. It records the page you looked at, the site you arrived from, your rough location worked out from your IP address, and the general shape of your browser and screen. It does that so we can tell which pages are worth keeping and which are not read at all.

It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not follow you between websites — there is no identifier that would let it. Your IP address is used to work out a country and to tell one visit from another, and is not kept.

We do not record what you type, and we do not replay sessions. The free tools that do that would capture what you had written into the enquiry form before you decided whether to send it, which is not a trade we are willing to make.

What this website does not do

• No cookies are set by this site.
• No tag manager, advertising pixel or session recorder runs on it. Nothing records what you type.
• Nothing is written to your browser storage.
• No third-party analytics service. The one we use runs on our own server.
• We do not build a profile of you, and we have nothing to sell to anybody.
• We do not use your enquiry to add you to a mailing list.

Nothing leaves our server

As of 27 September 2026 this site makes no third-party requests at all. Everything it needs — the page, the typefaces, the images and the visit counting — comes from this domain.

Until that date the typefaces were loaded from Google Fonts, which meant your browser contacted Google and Google received your IP address as part of it. We said so here rather than quietly omitting it. They are now served from our own server, so that request is gone.

Our page-view counting was never on that list either. The tracker is served from this domain and proxied to our own server, so your browser never contacts an analytics company — which is also why an ad blocker will not stop it. We would rather say that plainly than let you assume otherwise.

Why we hold it, and for how long

We use what you send us to answer your enquiry and to have a conversation about the work. That is the whole purpose.

If the enquiry becomes a project, the information becomes part of our normal business and accounting records, which we keep for as long as Australian tax and business law requires. If it does not become a project, we keep it while it is still useful for the conversation and delete it once it plainly is not.

Who else sees it

Your enquiry reaches us by email and is read by the people who would actually do the work. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not disclose it to anyone overseas.

Like any business we use ordinary third-party services to operate — email and hosting among them — and those providers necessarily process the information in transit and at rest. We would also disclose information if the law required it.

Keeping it safe

The site is served over HTTPS, so anything you submit is encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry email is limited to people who need it.

We will not pretend to guarantee security. No system is perfect, and anyone claiming otherwise is overselling. What we can say is that we hold very little, which is the most reliable protection there is.

Seeing it, changing it, or having it deleted

Email hello@coastalmedianetwork.com.au and ask. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do it, and we will not make you explain why.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to sort it out. If that does not resolve it, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

On 26 August 2026 we added page-view counting, described above. Until then this page said the site ran no analytics at all, and it promised that if that changed we would rewrite this page before turning anything on rather than after. That is what happened: the wording changed in the same release as the tracker.

The same applies to anything we add next. If what we collect changes, this page and the date at the top of it change first.
